Custom DVR and NVR platforms

In today's climate of threats from terrorism and widespread criminal activities, Amplicon can provide customised platforms for system integrators to monitor, analyse and store either still or moving images.

Video applications has enabled us to offer a range of DVR (digital video recorder) and NVR (networked video recorder) platforms that can be customised to suit your particular application. Based on industrial PCs that provide a consistent software platform, our systems use high reliability storage devices, Intel processors and expandability. Our systems can capture PAL or NTSC video signals at high speed and full D1 resolution using video capture cards or video servers.

Our experience of producing industrial PCs means we are able to supply a variety of platforms and configurations to suit your requirements. These range from 19" rack-mount 2U or 4U high chassis to embedded systems. Dual Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and dual redundant power suppliers can be included when reliability is even more critical. We can also provide lockable caddies for removable storage which means they can be replaced while leaving operating systems intact.

DVR platforms

A Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is capable of storing moving video images onto a PC based system, which provides greater reliability and accessibility than the VHS tapes used in VCRs. It will compress the video signal from a CCTV camera (PAL or NTSC) using MPEG4 or H.264, and is likely to include image analysis, and masks for sensitive areas.

The majority of installed CCTV cameras in the world today are analogue video cameras that typically use a BNC connection. Our entry level systems can accommodate four analogue video camera signals at 120 frames per second, while our top tier platform can accommodate up to 48 analogue cameras at full D1 resolution. Audio and digital inputs, alarm and PTZ outputs are also provided. Our hybrid DVR platforms are capable of combining analogue and IP cameras in the same system, so that all the different camera views are recorded in the same file.

NVR platforms

IP cameras generally use the same technology as analogue cameras but they convert the picture into a digital signal in the camera housing, which is then transmitted over Ethernet.

A Network Video Recorder (NVR) is used to store video signals that are received from an IP camera via an Ethernet network. The video signals are already compressed into MPEG4 or H.264 by the IP cameras, therefore a NVR does not need a video capture card or frame-grabber.

Our NVR platforms can be supplied with Acti NVR software which supports 64 channels at full D1 @ 30 frames per second. It can record video and audio continuously, based on a schedule, motion detection or alarm input.
